British sailor Alex Thomson Racing today smashed the world record for the greatest distance sailed solo in 24 hours notching up 536.81 miles on HUGO BOSS. This new record awaits ratification by the World Sailing Speed Record Council.
Thompson is still in second place aboutj 50 miles behind leader Armel LE CLÉAC’H who has just over 800 miles to sail to the finish line. Two more days, depending on winds. They are pounding past the coast of Spain and will soon be in the Bay of Biscay.
